Foreword
It twas a brisk night in early September 1997 when that which has become the legacy of hick.org was spawned. After countless hours of "technical" support from someone who I suppose could have been considered technically clueless, hick.org breathed its first tone of life. DTMF to be exact. In fact it was quite an accomplishment to finally get the old dell 386 online with not only a static IP, but a domain that referenced that IP to boot. Granted, when thought of in the small scale of things that little connection isn't much to brag about, but when thought of in light of the current state of hick.org, it's the thing that made it all happen.

Pre hick.org
The hick.org conglomerate of friends existed quite a few years prior to the creation of hick.org, and as hick.org exists not without those who helped to create it, we've managed to keep a few momentos from times long since past that help us remember the wise ways of our prior selves.

  Log from January, 1997 (bind=shane,MaTt-_-=skape)

September 1997
hick.org successfully brought online using a dell 325i 25mhz 386 box with 16 megs of ram and a 1 gig harddrive. The connection speed was 14.4kbps. The 386 that established this connection has since perished and all attempts to get it back have failed. But fear not, the foresight of the hick.org community has yet to faulter and as such we've maintained in both visual and written forms the first machine proud enough to bear the name: hick.org

A website created by shane around the same time

November 1998
The first documented hick.org website is created. Even through the long years we've managed to save this website and it has been maintained in the archives below:

Not hick related, but of an era long past -- rolex vs the FBI

March 1999
Hick.org is upgraded to a new machine. This time it's an AMD 350mhz with 96 megs of ram and a 4 gig hd.

August 1999
The second and long standing hick.org website that was created but never updated.

June 2002
crazy The final and most current hardware upgrade for hick.org. This time it's an AMD Athlon 1800+ with 512 megs of ram and roughly 55 gigs of storage.

November 2002
This site is updated for the first time in years. Click here to see a picture of betty's beautiful rack.
